COOPER RANCH LIFE

Sometimes we use noisy things—like plastic kiddie pools, or a flattened heavy trash bag—to train young horses. Stepping on or into them helps them to be less skittish when we humans make noises around them. Well, one of the bags came loose from where it was tied during a very windy day and covered up part of a cattle guard. Sage stepped onto it and her leg fell through! iPhone 6 Plus gets crushed by cattle trailer. DID IT SURVIVE?? Mary sets her iPhone 6 Plus on a cattle trailer while deep in the rocky, mountainous Arizona desert valleys. After loading her horse into the empty trailer, she heads off in her big Ford Truck. Towing her horse in the cattle trailer back to the homestead, she unknowingly had left her beloved iPhone on the trailer to fend for itself. It didn’t do too well. It got freaked out and either got bumped off, or jumped off willingly. You can even hear it scream if you listen closely. Well, it got itself run over by a big ol’ trailer. It was homesteaded in 1921 by my great-grandmother, Nel. They ran over 10,000 head of Angora goats all along the mountain ranges. As a child, I remember hearing so many stories about Nel and our family’s history. Now, on our livestock ranch, we run cattle. All the cattle are truly free-range. The only time they’re in the corrals is when we’re weaning, doctoring, gentling or otherwise getting them ready to turn back out to the range. We raise cattle as naturally and humanely as possible on this beautiful, rocky and mountainous high desert land in Arizona, and treat all of our animals with love and respect. We run about 400 head of free-range Hereford, Black Angus, Limousin and other mixed-breed cows, calves and bulls on about 45 square miles of big rugged mountains on the Hassayampa River in Arizona. It’s so rugged, and has such a large amount of land to cover on horseback, we use a helicopter to bring the cattle in. We call it "Helicopter Roundup”.
